Want to help change the world? Syncronos Design is working on an independent feature film that combines multiple forms of animation to tell a single story. Using humor and imagination, our film aims to inspire, enlighten, and entertain a wide audience on some of the most pressing issues facing the world today.
We are currently looking for an experienced Rigging TD to develop character rigs for this film. You will work closely with the team to create, test, and maintain rigs for the lead characters, as well as work with modelers and cloth/hair artists to ensure functionality of the rigs across all aspects of the production. This is a freelance contract position beginning in mid-May. Remote work accepted.
Responsibilities:
Work with Supervisors to develop animator-friendly rigs that accurate convey the personality, range of motion and tone of the stylized characters
Create both body and facial rigs, including any necessary facial and corrective blendshapes
Create and evaluate animated pose tests to ensure rig integrity in extreme positions
Provide creative and technical problem solving
Be able to identify any potential issues that may affect a rig as it move through the production pipeline
Perform rig maintenance and fixes during production
Create concise documentation of controls to share with the animation team
Qualifications:
At least 3 years of experience rigging for feature or broadcast animation
Has a solid knowledge of anatomy and facial expression
Has the the ability to work with stylized, or exaggerated characters
Expert in Maya with the ability to optimize rigs for performance
Scripting skills in MEL or Python are a plus
Ability to receive constructive feedback with professionalism
Be able to implement changes in a timely manner
Strong organizational skills
Excellent communication skills
