Rigging Character made by stone

Hi all!

I’m working on a master project and I have a character made by stone… So my question is: How can I rig and model it to make it seems made by stone?
I was thinking to separate each parts to avoid the mesh deform, but I don’t know if there’s a better way to obtain the same result. Can you help me or give me some references?
