I hope someone can help with this small but irritating problem I’m having in AfterEffects CS4:
Is there a way of restoring the original names of the footage in the Project panel? The footage files have been renamed in the past and at the moment I’m having to look at the whole File Path to find the name of the orginal file. In the composite panel you can alternate between Layer Name and Source name so there must be a way to do this in the Project Panel?

The Project_Items_Renamer script might be useful:

I think it does not offer to replace the name by the original source name. But you could try to modify the script (or kindly ask the author to do so).
You should be able to access the source name in the script via:
item.mainSource.file.displayName
That script does not help unfortunately but thanks for the heads up, I had no idea there were so many useful scripts for AE out there!
