Resources on Plants/Flowers for Creatures?

#1

Hello,

I wanted to start doing creatures which are based on plants/flowers/roots et cetera.
Now before I start doing creatures I’d like to immerse myself into the world of (exotic) plants.
Do you guys know any good books (not text, rather photographs) of exotic plants?

Hm okay, apparently I should just drop the research…

Collins Flower Guide is an excellent resource, although it’s more of an illustrated field guide. It’s mainly for British and European flowers and might not meet your expectations of the word ‘exotic’.

Hey, thanks DutchDimension, I’ve had a look into it (the preview on amazon) and it does indeed not match my expectations :-(.
I just saw Avatar again and for the first time I did conciously realize the incredible forms/shapes/design of the flora in that movie. What I want to say is that I think maybe I should also consider using movies as reference…
Thanks for the tip anyways!

Fair enough. Do know however that the preview on Amazon does a very poor job at showing the true value of the book. It doesn’t show any of the 1400 colour illustrations included in the book as they are not allowed to reproduce them on the website for copyright reasons. Same on Googlebooks.
I’d say keep an eye out for it next time you’re in a brick and mortar book store and see if they carry a copy. Nothing beats a proper flick through the real thing.

Wow, didn’t know that, thanks, then I’ll defenitely have a look on the book next time at the book store!
