Hey all,
A common issue I have when working on shots is that production shoots FG elements on a green screen that is lit very bright and causing a lot of spill around the edges of the characters. This is not an issue if I am replacing the green with something of equal or greater brightness (like outdoor daytime driving plates). The real issue is when they shoot a shot that is supposed to be dark/night time outside, but the green screen is very bright.
When I use either IBK or Keylight, I get very harsh despill on the edges. If the spill from the green is too harsh, then the keyer sometimes replaces it with harsh black outlines, which obviously aren’t acceptable. Now, I know I should be using the keyers to just generate an alpha, but sometimes the spill is so intense that even after doing a strong Hue Correct, I can’t really get rid of the bright outlines from the intensity of the green screen.
I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions for dealing with this, as I can’t be the only one who has this issue.
