Repeatable Saving Crash--PLEASE RESPOND!

#1

Hi,
Modo crashes when “saving as” to the desktop. In this case, I am using an imported Adobe Illustrator template, AI legacy file version 8. The crash happened consistently on a NVIDIA Geforce card running on a dual G4 10.3.5. I am now the proud owner of a brand new dual 2.5 G5 with 2 gigs of RAM running on an ATI card and the CRASH STILL HAPPENS, exactly the same way.

Somebody at Luxology please respond, since my email query to customer support was ignored. Getting very frustrated…

Actually, we did respond asking for the file… so if you could send the file in question to cs@luxology.com we would most likely be able to help… Does the file save anywhere else?

are u trying to undersand what is going on? or trying to solve the problem?

if i were you , i would try these steps (i am a pc user btw)

copy that illustrator object in modo and create a new object and paste to that new file, and export as obj or other 3d format. and bring it back to original scene as 3d object .

as it sounds an odd way, it may work. but also it it maybe a plain “save as” bug., not related to file format. in this case u can try simply “save” instead of save as.

if i were you i would try second step first.

I can add to the crashing issue. mine is a little different though. Say i’m downloading a file in the background while im working in modo. when the file is done downloading it causes the corresponding program to launch. when the program launches modo hangs forever with the beach ball (im on a mac)

Thanks for the replies. Dion, I wasn’t referring to my recent inquiry, (which I sent to customer service at the same time as the first post) I was referring to an inquiry I made last week. I received the recent reply from customer service, thank you.

As for the crashing problem, it is not the same illustrator file. The file was created on my G4 when modo crashed, but then it was recreated from scratch on my G5 and the same crash happened.

As far as workarounds are concerned, yes I’m trying to work around the problem, and I can find a few solutions, however, I think a problem as big as a “save as” problem should be brought to the company’s attention. I know a lot people like to spend time finding their own workarounds, but as paying customers, I believe that bugs are the responsibility of the company.

Thank you for responding, Luxology, I look forward to your response.
