Hi there,
Just bugging you guys with another question…Previously I had done a scene with 167mil. polys with lots of trees and mountains and that scene took 6mins per frame to complete…I saved my settings and applied them in another scene with 45mil. polys but this one is taking 1hr a frame to render…I mean the settings are exactly the same just in this case the camera is at a medium shot compared to the last one where it was almost a long shot…Any clues why?

Yes, different atmosphere’s and lighting will give you different render times. Glocal radiosity for example, will take longer. Some cloud types can take longer too.

I am using Global Illumination and now with a few tweaks here and there and with 60mil polys and a beach and a sea in my scene which is a mid long shot of a House,its taking me around 15 to 20 mins per frame…Is that good or no?:bounce:

It’s probably not good if you want to see your final animation any time soon! It totally depends on the complexety of your scene, textures, materials, lights etc. Your render settings, and also the power of your computer or render network. At the end of the day, if you aren’t happy with the render time, you have to change one or more of those variables. If for example the house in the scene is off in the distance, but has very high rez, detailed image based texture, you should lower the rez of the image as all that detail has to be rendered, but you aren’t going to see it in the final. If you have a large number of highly detailed plants, that too will slow things down. Vue gives you a comprehensive set of render options which are often over looked, and can be used to optimize your render times. Generrally the more photo relistic you want your render to be, the longer it will take.
