Why? What should I look for as to why my batch renders taking 2X the time to render my frames? Not just the first frame but every frame is 3 Mins when the renders in the render view are taking 1:30.
Renders 1:30 mins vs Batch Renders 3mins?
is Bath rendering using all cores? by defult batch render is set to Auto render Threads and does’t use all of it…
Hmmm. Strange thing. I stopped the render, made some changes. Using the same batch settings, in my case 8 threads, it is back to less than 40% cpu and 3 mins per frame. And the changes I made spead up the render time in the render view. Not sure why it is not using all of the CPU. It is using all threads but not all of the CPU.
Scene translation takes time on a batch render, but it already done when you render in the viewport. If you have a lot of objects, it could account for some of the time.
Are you watching the render output? Is the frame render time more, or the total time?
also, the tiling options under the “Render Current Frame” and “Batch Render” options could be different, so the renderer is getting stuck on a large bucket using a single core. I find the default “auto tiling” is horrible and set it to to 24ish, even lower on dual cpu machines with 32 cores.
Thanks for the ideas. I have a suspicion it was something to do with the setting for render on network. I think what happened was I connected to my network and started the render again and this setting was set to “render on Network”. So it may have been reserving cpu for the master machine. Which makes some sense. Even though there were no other machines connected. I don’t know.
But any rate it is rendering as it should now CPU at 100 % durring rendering with this setting unchecked.
So it seems to be solved now.
