Renderman4Maya - Where ist the RiVolume?

#1

Hey guys,

i have a scene with volumetric lights where the lights and the camera are inside
a poly-box with the PxrVolume-Material. Like the Soho-Example on this page:

https://renderman.pixar.com/resources/current/RenderMan/exampleVolumes.html

Now renderman documentation said i need an RiVolume for this kind of scene…ok,
but where can i find this primitive? :curious:

I dont have RfM in front of me right now, but I think you just need to create a polyCube and hit the appropriate button in the renderman shelf.

#3

…thats what i was looking for but i can’t find anything…

#4

Please, use subforums when appropriate.
Moving this to Maya/Rendering for you.

#5

Do you mean the renderman shelf is empty? Thats what happens sometimes to me. I dont like when tools are only available via shelf, as they tend to break for me.

#6

No, it’s not empty but there is nothing about volumes or anything related. Same when i use Mayas “Find Menu”-Function i cant find anything about RiVolumes…

…maybe i am totally wrong and missunderstood the article in the docs…

Its in the Renderman Menu > RMS Materials > PxrVolume. Just create a mesh and assign the material. Thats it!
