Renderman Subdiv question 2: With a Vengence

#1

Hey, I’m going to be working with MTOR soon, but won’t have it until a point when my character will have to be mostly done. So, simple dumb question:

Does renderman have any problem with tri’s in a subdivision surface?

I’ve encountered at least one program that would ONLY do quads, but tris are really convenient in my model in a couple of places that don’t deform, so I’d really like to use a couple.

you can do triangle based subd’s though quads are recommended for various efficiency and numerical stability reasons. i think you can mix the two in one mesh - though there is probably some penalty for doing this.

if you are going to be using mtor, i would strongly recommend using the package -before- modelling and familiarising yourself with the subd modelling tools.

Unfortunately, too late, my character is 99% done. Though I may go back and try to kill the non-quads (there arn’t many).
