rendering only one object with vray

#1

Hi,
I searched the net and couldn’t find anything related to the subject really, so let me ask:
Is rendering only one object from the whole scene possible? I don’t mean rendering the whole image and then masking it in composition, my goal is to render only one object but with every reflections and stuff from the whole scene. The idea is to render faster to get ready for the exam so please answer me the fastest possible;) Is it possible? Or are there any other ways? (somthing like rendering selected region and saving it maybe?)

greets,

likely too late for your exam but if you select all objects in the scene except for the one you want to render, right click, select object properties and then turn off visible to camera. only your unselected object will be rendered but the other objects will be seen in the reflections and cast shadows

I guess this is not exactly what he was looking for. In mental ray it is so easy. Subset - done. In vray you have to invert the whole selection. Select all objects you dont wanna render (nice when it is a simple scene) and assing a vray property node to it. Then select the object you actually wanna render assign a vray property node too.

Isn’t there a way to make more simple like in mental ray?
