Render passes in 3ds Max

friends what are the render passes,
which i should render in 3ds max,
i gets confused over their names,

and can someone tell for occlusion pass, please,

what passes is required if mental ray renderer, or vray
is used

It all depends what you want to do with the renders, what your end goal is. Some people just use the beauty, others render every single pass out there.

Hi,

 Render passes are used to alter any part of the frame you rendered, like if you want to darken or lighten the shadow you can use a shadow pass this way you don't have to render all over again.

There are lot of passes

Occlusion pass - mostly used to control the shadow or darkness between the gaps or corners

Specular pass - used to control the shine of any object, like you get a shiny spot when some metal is exposed to sun

shadow pass - used to control shadow darken or lighten

reflection pass - if there is some reflection of any object on the glass, you can control the sharpness of the reflection

And so on there are hundreds of passes if you go on listing
