is there a way to quick render a small section of your viewport window thingy
like specifying a certain region or something

Sure Click on the render button then Right Click and drag a box around what you wish to render

Hello.
Another feature worthy of abuse is the Render Lock Mode. It’s the greenish icon, with the padlock next to it. Click on this, and use your right mouse button to draw out a little box of interest on your model. This area will stay rendered, at all times, even as you animate, model, whatever. This feature is handy when you are busy tweaking complex materials.
