removing rogue twitches in rotations

#1

Hey Guys

What is the best way to remove “twiches” in a bones rotatoin? I’ve got my chracter running and there is a twitch in his spine that quickly makes him lean forward, then back again. I’ve tried using a key smoothing filter, but it doesnt seem to help as each spine bone is counter animating the one below it, so the movement is still there, but just different after the filter is applied. Applying a smoothing filter to all bones in the spine just completely messes up the animation.

Anyone?

Thanks

It may help to max out the chest stiffness in the character settings pane. Try adjusting the reach for the spine. The only other way I have solved this is by manually editing the fcurves.

Yes, thus far, I’ve found editing the rogue keys on the fcurves is the best way. There is a lot of trial and error.

You might want to try a Butterworth filter. It gets rid of noise without messing up your curves. The results might not be perfect but it could help. Chances are you’ll still have to go in and tweak your animation (or your curves).
