Refresh layers within material shader while previewing?

#1

I have a material whose color tab contains two layers: A stripe tile generator, and a translation effect allowing me to rotate the stripes…

This is a major part of the project, and it’s difficult to see what’s going on without being able to see it in preview, but preview only updates what’s in the layers if I stop it, so if I hit play, whatever state the layers were in, they will just be in that state all the way through. This is not the case in renders which are fine, so it’s just a preview issue.

At this point, I think I’ve tried all the checkboxes for enabling various items on preview, am using high LOD, etc.

Is there a particular fix for this? Did I miss a checkbox? Maybe tell it to prioritize this somehow on preview? Some other way to achieve the same end?

Do you have “Animate Preview” set/checked? It’s in a Material’s “Viewport” (or “Editor” in previous versions) tab.

Awesome. That was it. Thanks. knew it must exist, but kept searching for it in the overall view options. I suppose it makes sense that it’s material specific since lots of those running could be a system killer.
