Reference character with ncloth dynamics : Best practice ?

#1

When you have a character setup that needs ncloth dynamics (in my case only a necklace) and reference the character in the main animation scene, is it best to setup the ncloth dynamics in the character scene or the main animation scene ? Ncloth only needs to interact with the character.

From what I learned from working with the nucleus node is that it is best not change the name of the nucleus node, and maybe even keep all the dynamic nodes (especially when working with cache files) with their default names. Then referencing could maybe tricky because nucleus node will be renamed … ? And when you add other characters with their own nucleus nodes Maya could be confused ? Or do you best relink the different ncloths to one (referenced) nucleus node (depending on the effect you want) ?

Thanks,
Mules.

outmesh - inmesh the character geo (reference) you need to put ncloth on and work with that. I would not reference the ncloth. Just personal approach.

That way any topology change still got carried on without breaking the ncloth (generally)

So you say it is best to reference the model and add nDynamics in the animation scene?. How do you make all animation scenes share the same nDynamics attributes and so?.
