Recompile xExport (Maya)

#1

I hear from other threads on highend2d that the recent SDK Exporter for Maya 6 is majorly flawed and is in need of a serious recompiling in C++. I don’t assume to know what this mean I am simply looking for assistance in fixing this exporter that seems to be flawed. For multiple week my group at school have been desperatly attempting to export animation from Maya and import it into our engine. So far we have been unsuccessful. Now a second problem has arisen with complicated textures that have been “baked” as targa’s. The new problem is that the texture coordinates on the static object no longer follow their original designation. Thus a texture meant for the front of a characters face is now appearing on the back and etc etc. Either way we are a bunch of students that have exercised every avenue other then building our own exporter which is darn near impossible given our technical know how. This is basically a plea for anyone to please help or least form a line of communication with me to maybe resolve this problem somehow.

Feel free to email me or respond here. Thank you for your time.

I would attempt to speak with Programmers on the forum of www.gamedev.net they may be able to help you more than programmers here, also I’m not sure what Game Engine you may be using, but working on a exporter is a little bit of work, I would dig deeper on what the engine needs to export and compatibility, sometimes the engine itself won’t let you do it, unless your using something like the Torque Engine which has open source code to better perfect the engine
