rebuild curve chaos

#1

Hello,

does anyone know how to rebuild a curve (so that the parameterisation becomes uniform) without changing the shape of the curve at all.

say there is an ep curve with three points created. the curve length/ u parameter will be as long as the curve. But if i want to insert further points evenly i need to rebuild the curve which annoyingly changes the curves shape slightly.

Does anyone know how to either keep the curve exactly the same but just with a clean uniform parameterisation between points or maybe there is some other way.

thanks,
Samamaa

Isn`t this problem already solved in this thread?

no not really, the solutions were quite tedious if they were to be done multiple times throughout a script. Currently this rebuild curve/add knots/ and loft task is required about 500 or more times in my script. Im just trying to find the neatest most optimised way of doing it.

im thinking if maybe a pymel or maya api route might be an option. something to allow a curve to be rebuild without moving the points - it just seems like it should be so basic a requirement

thanks,
Sam
