Realistic Skin

#1

So, I have this head I am working on.

Now, I am having some problem with texturing. I am using zbrush and I see people create these amazing, realistic skin textures. And I am a bit lost as to how they manage to create these results. What are the techniques and so on. So far, I’ve just been doodling. Coating him with stock skin texture images and seeing what works (It doesn’t, is the brief version)

So, any help is appreciated. Any tutorial, guide, tip and such.

This is a great tutorial on painting the skin. It’s Mari, but what you learn here about primary-secondary-tertiary details will apply directly to your skin modeling in Zbrush too. Something I think will benefit you immensely from what I see.

And there’s Sub Surface Scattering you need to set up for the application/render engine you use. IF you’re rendering straight from ZBrush, this might help

Thanks! But I’d rather not pay and learn new software when I see already that zBrush has what I need on offer. I just need to learn it.

It’s for game character purposes.

There are really good information in that tutorial tho. 90% it’s pure skin painting, very little MARI stuff. I highly recommend it if you’re serious about painting your skin whether you use MARI or not.
