Realistic scene with a cartoony ball

#1

This started out as practice to work on my almost non existing animation skills. At first I just wanted to get a realistic ball bounce going, but after a short while I decided to make it a bit more interesting so I added the question and exclamation marks. Once I got that “finished” I decided to try and incorporate it into a scene. And once THAT was “finished” I decided to work on my After Effects skills and try and get it as realistic as possible.

But I know that I’m not even close to being an animator, so let me know what you think

The background is just an HDR , I’ll probably try a different HDR of higher quality later, this one was only 2k I think.

It looks pretty good, the only thing that seems missing is a contact shadow. The current one is waaay too soft so the ball looks like it’s slightly above the ground. Probably can fix that by grading the shadow/AO pass?

I noticed in my scene that the ball actually IS above the ground. Error on my part for not checking my side view… :stuck_out_tongue: I’ll be rerendering it soon when I get some time.

Thanks for the comment
