I believe reactor isn’t the right tool to animate and especially steer a vehicle.
You should look into newplugins vehicle simulator or craftanimations: craft director. Both allow fairly realistic vehicle dynamics…

you keyframe and animate the car like normal (along a road or whatever). Then, on the copy of it that you’re going to smash, you let reactor take over a few frames directly before it hits whatever it’s hitting. Reactor will follow the animation through at the velocities determined by your keyframe animation.

All my advice is only for the smashing of the car. For having some kind of easy controls for “driving” a car, I agree with andyburm, you should look into what kinds of scripts and plugins are out there for vehicle rigging.

unless you have some very specialized software you are best left to modeling the crashed car, then use morph targets to make a smooth car crash.

Dear Guys,
i tried to run reactor preview after finishing a simple animation. After launching the preview, a waning came out with “SetPixelFormat failed” error, and another windows popped-up (Macro_Reactor.mcr - MAXScript) and the program crashed there without any response. Can this be fixed? Please help:sad:

1. i think vehicle studio is one of the best solutions for animating a car, i tryed it.

http://www.newplugins.com/

2. for the crash, Yurithebest’s way is what you need

3
. you don’t have to use the reactor in this scene.
