Raytrace engine for the new build 2.53

#1

Is there any kind of raytrace engine that works with the current beta 2.53?
I know that there are development for the Vray for blender but that’s mostly for the 2.49 build… and not currently 2.53 and especially not for a 64bit windows.

Would appreciate some kind of tips for engines available.

Try Luxrender. I think they reliesed a working exporter for 2.53 recently.

As far as I know the 0.7 release of lux won’t work with 2.53, has to do with python as what I have found out reading some blender forums. I made a thread about lux a couple of weeks ago…
Is there a latest patch that you are speaking of?

Thank you.

Well, it’s a working RC3, although not perfect:

Havn’t tried it out myself, but I have to now

i replyed to you in the other topic for how to model in blender 2.53 and render with luxrender

simply append your work to 2.49 after finishing modeling.

#8

Yea I saw that, thanks for the reply. But I don’t wanna drop back to 2.49, highly un-efficient and if you model things in 2.53 you gonna have to do changes to the models when you import them into 2.49.
I used to do that though when the alpha was still in development.

#12

that’s strange!

i’m now using this way and i didn’t find any changes when i append the work from 2.53 to 2.49

but maybe you need to apply your modifiers before append if those modifiers weren’t in 2.49 or something

the only thing that i have to fix some time is the materials and textures in luxrender exporter, sometimes they change or dont load textures unless i recheck it’s directory.

#13

Where I have noticed this mostly is in the “solidify” and “sculpt”, becomes rather troublesome for the 2.49 version to handle. Ah well I am not in any rush for a raytrace engine, rather wanted to ask around what kind of alternatives there are.

#14

I saw this one has support for Blender, not sure if it is for 2.53 build though? Anyone that uses “Octane” render?

Edit- hmm seems effective to say the least, Gpu based… maybe worth 100 Euro?
