RayFire 1.44 issues

#1

I posted this on the rayfire fourms still waiting on a answer from them thought i would post it here see if you guys new anything that could help me.

Hey guys,

New user here… first off everything I have seen so far this thing looks bitchen…
So I downloaded the Trial from the Front of the webpage for max 2010 32bit. Everything seems to be working from the fragmentation to the physics. This version seems to be a bit differnt from the version I have been seeing in these videos http://www.mirvadim.com/index.php?id=tutorials

I have been following the videos for the demolitions. From the first video it was pretty basic with just a block falling to the ground and doing the fragmentation. Im not sure if there were a few steps missing from the video or not. But I am doing everything the exact same way as what I am watching. In my version the block does fall but never break apart. So I did notice I needed to set physics to physx not reactor I did that. I also noticed that fragmentation features does not show up durring the preview mode playback So I am using the bake animation button instead. However the fragmentation never happens. Are there new steps in the 1.44 version that i need to be aware of from the 1.41 version that I am seeing in the videos? Thanks for any help -Jeremy

Here is that link if you prefer to post there . http://www.mirvadim.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=371

thanks guys

Have your desired fragmentation object in the simulation - impact object list.

Enable physX, and down the bottum of the physics rollout enable ‘demolish geomentry’. Define the fragmentation type type in the ray/Xplosion rollout and add the ground plane to the unyielding objects (physics rollout).

The animation preview will NOT fragment objects, only the bake animation will fragment.

If your doing all of that, and your object still isnt breaking it probably isnt falling fast enough, hard enough, its really small or really big or something along those lines. Dont forget you need to give rayfire a reason to fracture things. Try having the brick higher and drop it from a higher distance.

hope some of that helps :S

Ok not sure what the deal was the same scene and everything i just rotated the brick to land on the corner then it breaks lol… leave it flat it does not break, but lands like a non fractured rigid body. lol

Yeah, thats becuase it needs a reason to break.
In real life if you drop i brick flat its less likely to break than when you drop it on a corner. The force cant be handled by corner so it breaks. Rayfire works trying to keep to the real world.

Thanks Jonathan, I was about to say the same.
Also don’t forget that you always can lower global Solidity property to cheat real world rules and break objects at their first collision.

yep it was all in the Material solidity option. Thanks everyone
