R20 - Export only Single Frame of Alembic

I really like being able to right click on an object & hit “Export as Alembic”. However, it defaults to exporting the entire timeline animation, when all I really want it to do is export a single frame - and I can’t find any way to adjust this.

If I use the previously existing technique of File --> Export Alembic, it is setup there to export just one frame (just as it is in my C4D Preferences) - but I’d really like to be able to use the right click functionality to save time.

Perhaps the best solution would be a command along the lines of “Export Current Frame as Alembic, Save it to the project directory, Import it into C4D”.

Hi there,
a Magic Genie saw your message and passed on this script, maybe it can help you to export more efficiently. It isn’t the same as the Bake command since it doesn’t bring the object back and has a save dialogue, but it should make the process easier and may be used as a learning resource as well.

Wow, thank you so much! I look forward to exploring this in detail.

(BTW, is Magic Genie one of Nitroman’s plugins? )
