Quicktime nightmare

#1

Hi, my workstation refuse to render any quicktimes. It’s not the first time it’s happen. I was using a bootcamp Mac Pro 12 cores lat year and had the same problem.

After Effects will do an error (output module failed) when doing any QT, and now Adobe Media Encoder do a sheep sound and crash any QT Render.

I am rendering MP4 in Media Player until I find a solution. I’ve reinstalled quicktimes, no change.

Also QT on pc still have the washed out problem and we need to click High Quality and switch to Straigh Alpha to get back some contrast. But now QT refuse to save those changes. When I click save, it just dont do anything.

Not funny. I need to send QT to my clients.

Im on a 24 cores. That might be part of the problem.

The latest update to adobe media exporter is borderline broken. It won’t export any sort of h.264 anything correctly. I’m currently using the previous version - media encoder CC (not 2014)

Found a solution for the Output model error. QT cant handle more than 21 cores (including hyperthreading). disabling cores with msconfig to 21 did the trick. I can render fine now.

Good to know, thanks for sharing

Even with that hack, I got errors in most heavy scene. Very very frustrated right now about all this. I have to render sequences as QT will just crash 99% of the time.

I so wish Adobe would do a QT alternative…

Why wait for Adobe to do something? There are already well established alternatives. If you need to send a compressed preview there’s H.264 using the MP4 format which just about anything can view including phones. If you want to send lossless finals there’s Huffyuv, FFV1, and Lagarith.
