Question: Texturing and UV mapping in lighting challenges

I’m really new when it comes to picking up models eg) cgsociety lighting challenges, and uv mapping and texturing for the models for lighting and rendering…
What is everyone’s workflow to do uv mapping and texturing…?
uv mapping:
