Question on Mpoint

#1

Hello,I’m poor about Maya Api,and also English. There is a question on Mpoint class.
(x,y,z)three components are enough to denote the position of a point, why there are four float component (x,y,z,w) in Mpoint, what’s the meaning of the float ‘w’ ? Thank you!

w is the 4-d homogeneous component. Basically it affects how the point is transformed. If w is 1, then it should be treated as a point, if w is 0, then it is a vector.

Search for some reference on 3d tranformations and homogeneous coordinates for a more detailed explanation
