So I’ve been wondering something. Now when it’s snow outside there’s alot of white. And the sky which is blue shines upon the shadows on the snow, and the shadows are the almost the same color as the blue sky. But i’m wondering something, is it the same if the object is in an other color? Will the shadows(shadows on the ball, not on the floor) of a highsaturated ball become blue too like with the snow?
Question about color.
Yes. Depending on the environment and what type of light though. Also it depends on the reflectivity of the surfaces, how porous they are and how much black they might contain. A completely white surface will pick up some color from the object sitting on top of it. The reason the snow picks up so much blue is because it is porous and reflects/refracts the light. I think that what you are describing though is called sub-surface scattering and radiosity in 3D terms…
