Hi all, I’m working on a project where I’m simulating very heavy fluids for a film production. Since simulation times are so long on it I prefer to get all the motion animated, then cache the sim, then do the shading and texturing so I can jump around the timeline and animate transparency, opacity, etc.
The issue I’m having, is if I “disable simulation” after it’s cached (which I always do because it’s so much faster), I can move around the timeline quickly and animate the transparency. It works fine keying the transparency on top of the cached fluid and everything renders fine. Also, if you jump around the timeline the transparency will update just the way it should, however, when I playblast the results, the animation keys are ignored and the transparency (and probably several other attributes but I’m using transparency so that’s why I’m singling that out) of the fluid never changes. Again, it renders fine and looks fine when you jump to any frame, but playblasting completely ignores the keys.
Anyone have any idea how to maybe force Maya to update when playing the animation? Any help would be greatly appreciated! :buttrock:
