No effects, just some very aggressive color correction.

how would I go about doing this very aggressive color correction would you happen to know? or do you have any other examples of this?

it’s a technique that’s being utilized in the photography world known as “fake HDR”…google that…also look for Dave Hill or Jim Fiscus effect…

the photoshop workflow will work in AE accordingly…

ok…quick search…I found 2 things for you that will help you to obtain that look:
Dave Hill Tutorial (photoshop)

you will however have to “recreate” the high pass filter , which doesn’t exist in AE, so you’ll want to work through this second tutorial:

that should put you on the right path…
