Quake 3 custom character tutorials?

#1

Does anybody know of a few good Quake 3 custom character tutorials? Ideally I want to make a Quake 3 character in gMax, but 3dsmax would also be fine.

i’d be also interested in that quest, as doom3 is still a “new game”, it’s really hard to find…

Well, asuming you know how to model a character… (those tutorials are widely spread as far as I know) I found this a good tutorial:
http://www.4thdimented.com/dimented_tutorialQuake3_1.htm

And about Doom3 (not quake3 ;))… I found some md5 exporters/importers once.
Don’t know the restrictions of a md5 model though.

Thanks Cryothic, but that 4thdimented tutorial is the one I’ve been using. I should have been more specific.

I have no problem getting stuff modeled, it’s once I export that problems arise. Also, all the tuts I’ve read refer to using Physique. I’m instead trying to use the Skin modifier. Not sure if this will work.

…any additional help or tutorial links would be most appreciated.

Well, since I’m also modelling md3 models right now for a school project (which gives me a lot of trouble sometimes ;)), I’ve got some links.
Don’t know if you can use them, but maybe there are one or two usefull links

http://cal3d.sourceforge.net/modeling/tutorial.html
This one uses physique two :frowning:

http://www.jaquays.com/gameart/model_resources.html
This one has some links to different modelling/quake3 resources, including “Model Making Tutorials For 3DSMax & GMax”

http://merlin.zsnes.com/tutorials/export/index.html
Another tutorial. Don’t think it’s worth much, but you’ll never know

http://www.planetquake.com/polycount/resources/quake3/tutorials.shtml
Polycount tutorials

That’s all I’ve got.
