pyrocluster/afterburn smoke trails help!

#1

I have made an air explosion using super snow and in the particle spawn options selecting spawn trails. However when i add either afterburn or pyrocluster I get the same problem I cant fix. The trails all seem to be the same thickness when spawning out. How can I make the particle tips really small and have the base really thick. Below is an image to help wit my problem.

Set the AFC curves in afterburn->size->Sph. Radius to start out small then get larger over age. You must have the particle life span set to give afterburn an age time to compare too.

EDIT: Personally i would choose Pflow to do this. Super simple:(just an example still needs some love but you get the picture  )

thanks. I have done a few things with pflow before and on occasion i try to stay away from it because it is a little bit scary especially when in a hurry simply because it has soo many operators

Have no fear Dave Pflow is your friend

You’ll notice that is is much like super spray, except instead of having rollouts in the modify panel you now get operators which contain similar attributes.

Want your particles to spin add a spin operator, collide - add a deflector and a collision test. It is really pretty intuitive once you start playing with it, especially if you already have experience using any of the other legacy particle systems.

For instance the example above is simply a standard flow, remove the shape operator, add a spawn to generate particle trails, an AfterBurn operator to tell ABurn to use that specific event, and a delete to end the particle life and give afterburn age data to control size.
