PS2 Development kit

first of all, total newbie on development, more than total newbie, i dont know anything about programming, but a friend of mine asked me to search for a development kit for PS2, anyone haves some directions? there is an official tool from sony, is there any other options? like open source? or other commercial options? or the sony official dev kit is the only one?
im getting kinda crazy of soooo much surfing!!:shrug:

You can buy a PS2 Linux dev kit. Will set you back the cost of the hardware, but it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than the official Sony dev kit. The kit includes keyboard, mouse, a hard disk and a PS2 version of linux. And obviously the dev tools are also included.

Most kits i’ve seen rely on you knowing linux. If your just a winblows kid, then time to swtich to Xbox development :stuck_out_tongue:

Cadillacs57, do you mean a development kit for developing your own games?

If you do you will need at least $5000.00 to buy the equipment and they do not release the special hardware to anyone, you have to purchase a license. If you would like I can get you some more information.
