Projection Man + Redshift

#1

Hello I would like to do set extension with using Projection Man and Redshift, but it seems Projection Man only supports Cinema 4D’s own render engine? My version is R18. What would be the best way to go about this?

Thanx

Redshift has camera projection and can used any images you create via projection man.

Can you be more specific what’s not working for you? It’s been quite a while since I used projection man but I can’t think why you can’t use Redshift like this.

Hi Infograph, thanks for your reply! I’m aware of redshift camera projection, it just seems that Projection Man isn’t able to create redshift materials in r18, only cinema 4d materials. I guess i could pipe the textures separately by hand to redshift materials, but it would sort of defeat the handy purpose of the Projection Man workflow.

Yeah, the problem is that any painting you do is stored to a b3d file in ram. Redshift can’t read that, and only references the texture files on disk…so the only work-around I’m aware of (because this is also how Bodypaint works), is to save the textures by saving the file each time you want to see it in Redshift. You’ll still need to manually pipe the textures into Redshift. And you will likely need to hit the refresh button in the RS Renderview for it to update to the new textures. (which means a lag…for it to refresh the scene and reload and process the textures each time)

So I almost think it’s better to just work with the standard render for painting and projection, then switch over to Redshift periodically to check it in that engine.

Can you not send the Projection Man b3d images to the picture viewer and then save them out then bring them into Redshift as a normal external image file?

I’m sure I’ve done this in the past.
