i hope you find the time to model all the little pieces on such a work bench (i least mine is FULL, yeah really FULL)
i can almost feel the mood.
PROJECT PHOENIX ENTRY: Richard Joly
Couple more models, couple more texture tests, couple more positioning tests, couple hours less sleep…

I should not take too much credit for the saw, it is in fact (pun) a nice texture job…
As for the cabinet, the textures are mostly off for now, I’m concentrating on the positionning of my models. The end is comming too soon for my taste…
Careful works.Especially I like paper boxes.Even though without texture,I can see boxes were made of paper. ![]()
BTW,is black masked clock your secret weapon?
That looks good…
the only thing that looks strange to me anyway, is the ridges on the cans, if they were scaled down a bit - that would be perfect. Just makes them look out of place with the rest of the scene.
Odwalla
There is a texture on the paper boxes… This resolution just doesn’t show it.
Secret weapon behind black glass…? I which… No secret weapon, just bad glass test…

Kevmo
You are right, it looks strange even though it is made to scale! I will make them smaller. I believe the look is more important than the real measurements.
I would have loved to have the time to model another 20 accessories but deadline prevails… I spent 3 hours last night making glass and texture tests with no satisfying results… long weekend comming. :argh:
Richard… you still have another week as of today. You’ve qualified for Stage 3 by providing your layout and render tests. You can continue modeling all throughout Stage 4 if you need it. Just manage your time and be able to get a final render out by the 22nd. (Midnight)
Oh,of course I know texture is on.I just wanted to say that your modeling is so good. I`m sorry if you felt bad for my bad English
Odwalla, english is not my native language either and your english is certainly better than my japanese…
Thanks for the nice comments.
Your project is looking awesome. Very nice modeling on the various items. I know what you mean about wanting to add another 20 stuff on the table. If only cloning technology was more advanced…
I was also wondering about the wood textures missing. Completely understand temporarily turning it off to work on other items, positioning, etc. Don’t discount the complements to your saw. Good 3D approaches are to limit the amount of modeling if you can texture it instead. Infinitely faster. Good luck with the glass materials. Intensive render hits and time keeps slipping away…I love the glass shader from Konkeptoine if you have that.
Troy
Well this was lots of fun…
I will consider this my final image; sometimes you just have to let go…
I was still modeling a vise, playing with textures and testing GI. Time to stop and go to bed!
I want to mention the great support and suggestions I received from my extremely patient wife MariaJoão.
Fantastic job! Beautiful glass render. Nice attention to detail, very impressive. Makes me want to tinker with my workshop…
Kudos!
Troy
yeah, nice image. i love the details, like the texture on the paint cans. great work, richard!
