I think that this belongs in the Employment Form

But, I would like to here more about this project.
The images you posted look like a good start…

Hey Devil Hacker,

thanks for the comment. I am the head of this project, and thanks for Reece for posting about this here on CG Talk. Anyways, what city do you live in? (I am also located in Texas…in Houston). Our members of Onyx 21 Studios are located all over the world, all in different countries (although several of us are here in the US). We are currently re-making the site for Onyx 21 Studios right now, so it is not up at this moment. Thanks!

Thanks for replying.

Yeah, sorry bout that. i wasnt sure whether to post it here or there. oh well.

ok, you will be soon recieving an e-mail outlining the game in a bit more detail, including the storyline, Who is in it. (Characters, Bad guys and Good Guys.) along with other details.

Thanks. Reece Heslop

Oh by the way, to go into some further detail about who we are looking for, we need some character modelers who have experience in 3D progams such as 3dsmax or Lightwave. Our poly cap is not completely decided yet, but for the in-game character modelers, we are thinking about a range of around 4000 - 8000 polys for the characters.

We need character models of a few humans, alot of monsters (zombies, etc.) and a few others. And we also need some good programmers who have experience in C++, and has knowledge in game design or video game programming. Thanks!

Greetings! I am also located in the Houston area and have been looking for a project much like this to work on. A few inquires, however, must be made.

Firstly, exactly what would the character modeller’s job be? Several small time companies have a person create the model, texture it, and animate it. At which point you should definately denote that.

Secondly, do you allready have the character’s model sheets created? A design? If no to all of these questions, it is a much larger task than many might suspect.

I am still interested, you can PM me here, or IM me on AIM at SSJ4CT for more direct results.

Thank you.

while i cant afford to work for free, I can contibute a little with this toilet model I made a few years back. Its on Turbosquid for free download if your interested in using it.
http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/184133/Action/FullPreview

if you dont have money to pay people i highly suggest looking into taking advantage of as many free and cheap models you can get pre-built. Unfunded projects almost never get completed because people either just dont have the skills, or they loose interest.
so if you pound a game out with a bunch of free models and textures pre-made you will have some cash to pay people for a more styalized project next time.

good luck guys!

Jevin,

  1. im not EXACTLY sure what necksmasher wants but i think he only wants the model. but i think that others will be texturing and animating. unless the person is willing to help with all.

  2. im not sure, you’ll have to talk to Necksmasher about that one.

Code Nothing,
We already have 10 people working on this (i think it was 10, im quite new to Onyx 21 Studios but im keeping everyone motivated and stuff) and everyone we have does have really good tallent at the job they’re doing. and im not to sure about the other guy but Necksmasher is remarkable at making textures, and i dont think im that bad either (when using the right programs to suit me) but we have nearly everyone we need, except we need more/another Character modeler and programmer and the reason we cant really pay people at the moment is because we’re using what money we (Necksmasher) do have to purchase a good Game Engine, and we mean good no crappy Torque or anything. we want somthing quite powerful.

P.S, you dont like my toilet  im gonna cry! but anyways, im going to take you up on that toilet offer. however, im gonna use my toilet seat because i dont like the like ‘half’ ones, there extremely uncomfortable and i just like the ‘full’ ones better visually.

Thanks. Reece Heslop

i agree, those half ones can get kinda gross. :scream:

And im glad you guys have a good dedicated team. I didnt mean to try and de-motivate anyone, ive just been involved in alot of “pay you later” projects with quiters. but if your out buying engines and stuff you guys sound prity serious! :buttrock:

#10

lol, we cool man

and yeah, we’re looking for a good engine to buy, but the best thing i’ve seen so far is Nebula 1 (no idea how to use it, hence me not being a programmer :stuck_out_tongue: ) , and apparently its free to use and stuff but if you sell the games made with it you have to pay $10,000 per title. so if we use this and plan to sell our game we’d wanna find a publisher that will help with that payment  and it doesnt seem too bad actually, because everything i’ve seen on the website looks quite nice and theres an open GL example thingy that came with the engine (along with some VB 6 and VB 7 files and some other stuff :surprised )

ANYWHO! still looking for help if anyone wants in.

PEACE!

Reece Heslop :surprised

[color=white]Hey, wow, there were lots of replies to this! As far as the Nebula game engine, it is very nice, I have played around with it a lot and made a few demos, so yes, it would be a good way to go.

Also, If you have not decided on a final engine, than you might want to consider the Crytek engine. From what I have seen, it looks easier to use than the Nebula Device, and has also been used in a big-name game (Far Cry) and from what I hear it is around $6,000-$10,000 per game made with it.

Hey guys, name´s Ben Cooper.

I´m a 2nd year 3d animation student from South Africa and my weapon of choice is MAYA.

I would love to create some Cinematic Characters, to get some experience and exposure. I wouldnt mind in-game stuff, but i prefer to make things with hi-detail and rad texturing.

Me working in Maya shouldn´t be a problem as we can just import it into whatever program you use.

I understand the financial side and that it´s a new company.
Compensation would be nice as it´s alot of time and effort that goes into this stuff as i´m sure you know.

Do you guys have a bankbalance for this thing?

Furthermore, will the artists get full credit for their contribution?
I think if it´s a freebie, this is quite important.

Are you guys thinking of starting a proper company, or is this just a once off thing?

Either way, i´m interested. It would be nice to get my foot in the door somewhere.

Unfortunately I only have a Musketeer WIP in the WIP gallery to show you, as this was my first submission to the gallery.

I am on holiday in Spain at the moment, but when i get back to SA, i can send you more off my work.

Check out my Musketeer Portrait in the WIP gallery and if you are interested in what i can do, send me a Private Message.

Thanks!

Hey guys. I checked out the Crytek engine, and its screenshots were absolutely amazing! It would be great to use this engine, but where could I get it? (is there a demo of it anywhere?). Dead Metal needs top-notch quality graphics, and I think this engine could deliver what we want and need. And thanks for the offer Ben! This is great news to all of us at Onyx 21 Studios. It doesnt matter that you use Maya, I am handling all of the model conversions, so there isnt any problem. I will look at your WIP project right now. Thanks again man, it is greatly appreciated. I am also on vacation right now (until January 5th).

And to answer your question, yes, all credit will be rightfully given, so dont worry about any of that. We cant pay yet, but everyone will get paid once the game is upon its release. We all hope that Onyx 21 Studios will soon become a very successful 3D company and we also hope that Dead Metal will become a great success. Also, Dead Metal will have alot of CG cinemas that will definitely be high quality, and any CG models will be great assets for us. If you would like any more information please email me at Viper680@hotmail.com and please visit our forums!

(BTW I am going to purchase a new forums system for the company, so these are just temporary.) Thanks!

Any word with the story line?
If you have any Info, please E-Mail me…

#15

hey DevilHacker,

we are currently re-writing the storyline (because the first script kinda sucked). So I will email you the documents and stuff for the story. We are adding new elements to the game (gameplay, characters, designs, and the story) everyday lately. So that is really good news. I will email you later. See ya! Thanks

Hey, that’s cool, I would also look at phpbb, to save ya a few bucks, it is probably the best forms out there, no question it is better than the biggest competitor, V-Bulletin…

Hey, that’s cool… I am really getting into this whole project, but I could only do some programming on the side or some models, here and there…

#17

IMO phpbb is an absolute piece of shit. i believe Invision Power Board is the best and most stable forum avaliable. and you can get it for free too.

and we’d love for you to help in ANY way if possible. Thanks.

and Merry Christmas/Chanakah or whatever it is with you.

Reece Heslop.
