Procedural Terrain Artifact

Hello, I have been having a weird issue with Vue 9.5 Xstream. Some times when I import a heightmap to use with procedural terrain, It looks like the terrain is made out of cubes… The heightmap is at 4096 resolution, and sometimes it works fine some times it doesn’t… Even at 8192 resolution it still appears. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

use a texture map node in the procedural altitude function. use the unscaled texture map to fit to the terrain size.

set the image interpolation to Bi-Cubic or Bi-linear. Bi-cubic is great for 16-bit or higher images, but may not be perfect for 8 bit height maps.

use a combiner node to mix the image and any fractals in the function.
