Problems with a global control

Hello. I’m following digital tutors tutorial on how to rig a character. My problem is as soon as i create a global control, i can no longer move my characters arms!:

To create this global control i just parented everything to it. Does anyone know how to make a global control that doesn’t ruin my characters arms? Thanks!!

I’m not sure what you are trying to say but.

Only the root joint should be parented to the ‘global’ control, and a few controllers (eyes, IK) should have the option to be parent constrained (so you can move the body but hands/eyes stay on target).
