Problems Creating Polygon

#1

I’m having some issues creating a polygon. I tried it by selecting three edges and then hit ‘p’ to make the polygon. But it didn’t seem to do anything. So I selected 4 vertices and that seemed to work but as I got further on the surface and selected a different 4 vertices I had issues creating the polygon. It seems to have made a 3 sided poly rather than a 4 sided. Anyone know how to fix or why this happened?

Thanks!

Selecting Edges and then hit p to make a polygon does not funktion. In order to build
polygons out of edges, try using the bridge tool.

To make a polygon out of 4 vertices, you should be aware of some rules.
First of all, select the vertices in a (clockwise) order. Otherwise you can
mess up your poly very easy.
Second, check the number of vertices. It could occasionally be, that 2 or
more vertices are lying on top of each other. This will cause the resulting
polygon to mess up too. Merging points will avoid this problem.

I use a CCW order for vertex selection and then press P , to have the newly created poly already flipped in the right direrction  (CW or CCW changes the polyghon normal direction)

Thanks! That did the trick… I was picking the vertices out of order.

Thanks a ton!

If you like “edges” instead of vertexes ,to create polys , you can try some Vertexmonkey Modelling scripts.
