Problem With VRAY shaders.

#1

Hi Guys, Im having a big problem with VRAY shaders for maya. Im actually trying to do that kind of paint : http://www.tem-aqui.com/fotos-do-camaro-e-preco/ , but i cant do it right.
Take a look on what’s happening : http://img225.imageshack.us/i/examplexs.jpg/

I cant centralize the stripe on the hood, im trying to do that with 1 vray material as a base color, another material as an opacity map and blend each other with VRAYBLEND mtl, but its not working at all.

If someone can explain to me what to do to make it work i’d be grateful or another way to get the same result as the photo up there.

Im using MAYA 2010 X64 and VRAY 1.50.

Thx and sorry for my bad english.

Hi, if you unwrap the model , texture it and then just apply that to a vray material you should have no problem. If you model the car to take into account the stripes polys you could also apply a vray material directly to those polys. The blend material is. not a good option for this.

Yeah PSLAVI, thats exactly what i did xD. Worked like a charm, http://img35.imageshack.us/i/camarou.jpg/ , there it is, thats my very first car model, so dont be harsh with the low details and everything, its almost finished, just a few details to get it done. Next one i’ll do it much better =p

Thx for your help ^^.

you could use a projection map (planar from above the car) but make sure to de-activate the repeat.
Vray Blend material work fine for this, you will need to map an image in the blend amount to define where the strip is. I think UVing the car just for this is a bit over kill.
