Problem with Maya muscle rig

Hi all, I’ve made a maya muscle rig with a humanIK skelleton. It’s doing a strange thing were when I move the rig around the muscles stay still and then jump to catch up.

It looks really bad with the skin bind too, though it does play-through fine when animated.

I’m also having a strange problem with the skinning, I keep getting to a stage where it’s using a muscle system for skinning, and it’s weighted ok just to get started, then when I save and restart my computer then open the file all the weighting is set back to 0 and the skelleton does nothing to the skin. I don’t want to do all the advanced weights until I can get the basic weighting to save properly.
