problem wih fluid emitted from object

Hi
Im just begining exploring Maya Fluids and I encountered a problem I cannot solve. as visible on a screen shot, when emitting fluid from object (fill mode), something goes wrong during simulation and the result are those straight lines of fluid, going parallel to the grid. I already tried using exactly the same parameters of fluid and emitter on a simplified mesh, built from scratch, and it worked properly, so could it be quality parameters (10 substeps and 100 quality solver with high detail solve failed) or bugged mesh? i checked it with a script and there are no obvious flaws like overlapping vertices or intersecting faces. it has about 4000 polygons, which doesnt seem too much. reimporting mesh doesnt help.

is it a common issue? does anybody know any solution?
I need a production level of quality on this so I would really appreaciate some help
