Problem merging 2d layer with 3d layer in photoshop cs6, 2d layer always transparent

#1

Hello,
I have been painting a 3d model in photoshop cs6 but I appear to have some kind of bad setting (which I am at wit’s end trying to find out) which causes any 2d layer I try to merge down onto the 3d layer to be projected with some very large amount of transparency.

I already checked to make sure that the opacity of the 2d layer was all the way up but for the life of me I just cannot figure out why I am having this issue. Any help would be significantly appreciated, I’m sure there’s just one little setting somewhere that I am not getting right.

Images below, in the first one the 2d layer, the little mark, is over the 3d layer, the cone. In the second image the layer is merged with significant transparency and in the 3rd image the transparency can be seen in the uv map.

Thank you for any help, I really have no idea what could be wrong.

Haha, figured it out, turns out that I had to set my paint falloff back to the default setting, serves me right for messing around with something whose purpose I didn’t know.
