problem in smoothing

I can’t smooth this model with the (2 or 3) buttons but I try to smooth another model with this buttons and it work. Why??

Are there any option to do the (same) function of that buttons?

foolish suggestion, but always be in the object mode for using 1, 2 and 3 buttons.
more over for smoothing options, press ctrl+A and check the mesh control attributes of shape node.

What can I do to check the mesh control attributes of shape node??

I use Maya 2011

select object => ctrl+A => objectShape => subdivisionlevel.
just change the number of subdivision level. and u will be working with the 3 key (which preview smooth form).
