Preserve Vertex Order while using Morpher and editing geometry across multiple meshes

#1

Do any of the major 3D packages allow me to edit a single mesh, while dynamically applying the same changes to target meshes specified via a morpher, but while preserving vertex order?

I can do this in 3D Studio Max, but I’m forced to use “Editable Mesh”. While using Editable Mesh it preserves the vertex order while making changes to a base mesh, and with the morpher modifier it automatically changes my target meshes with the new changes.

The problem is I hate using editable mesh. It has no grow, shrink features, no easy way of removing edges or vertex. Editable Mesh sucks.

Does maya, XSi, blender or any other 3d package let me make changes to meshes, via morpher and advanced geometry tools, but while preserving vertex order?

Is there any 3D package that takes the time to “preserve vertex order” or respect vertex order?
