Post Realism for 3D Renders

#1

Okay, I’m new to after effects but great with Premiere. I’m creating a photorealistic environment in Maya using Vray. I’ve pushed the Maya side of things as far as I can and I now think the remaining increase of quality will be in post.

I have all my renders in Premiere and its ready to be imported into AE. My animation is missing DOF, bloom and motion blur. I want to do this in after effects. Is AE a good program for this? Do I need any plugins? Also what do I need from Maya to make this work, do I need a Depth pass?

Also aside from DOF, bloom and motion blur is there anything else the pros do to achieve photo realism in post? I’d say my renders out of Maya are about 85-90% photo real.

Yes. No. And yes.

Post a picture, hard to tell without knowing what you’re talking about.
