Post-Production ugly bit

Hello!

Is there a professional out there who can give me some good advice? I am compositing together a 3D shot in After Effects CS4, but the Ambient Occlusion render pass is making an animated hand look absolutely dirty. It gives nice detail on other objects, but for some reason, the hand seems like really dirty. Is there a way to clean it up but keeping the nice detail on the rest of the objects? The AO is set to Multiply because for me it seems to give out the nicest details. There are 3 passes: Beauty, AO and Lighting. Lighting also includes shadows because when rendered, I used Daylight System. Tried with shadow pass but just darkens the hall thing. So back to the compositing, I’m pretty much a rookie at this. And seems the Lighting Pass is also causing a bit of “dirtiness” on the hand. I tried with color correcting but not seem to work. So if anyone can give me some good advice on this, I would be grateful for it.

Thanks!

I’m doing a project to develop my skills and experience to get somewhere in the visual effects or gaming industry.

you should only mult your AO into your ambient/indirect pass, not over everything, or you will get this “dirty” look.
