Post Effect for 3d scenes

#1

Greetings,

I have been noticing alot of 3d renders online that incorporate a chromatic aberration type post effect for a realism. I would like to know how this is achieved. It appears as though the red and green channels where slightly shifted to the left or to the right but I have no idea.

Thank you for your favourable reponse.

I don’t know why you want to make your images look like bad photography.

That’s exactly what you do. Even meaner, switch to CMYK mode and do it with the Magenta and Cyan channels.

True, I think it’s only a little fashion thing. On the other hand, people are accustomed to accept even the worst snapshot as depicting “reality”. This applies to each such photographic problems like the colour shifting, vignetting, noise, burned lights and even depth blur. All these things have been applied to photography as creative elements. Because of that I think it’s completetly acceptable to use it in CG too.
