Hi, I’ve got a little ninja character to animate in a cartoony way but I’m a real *** for character animation. Any keyframing I do turn to artefacts party after a while. Shoulders jerking, elbows everywhere… a nightmare. I use lightwave.
Is there any third party softwares that could help me? Something simple that export fbx?

Sounds to me like you’re not in need of more software, you just need to work on the animation. In other words it’s like me saying my model in maya looks bad, what software can I buy to make it look good?
Open Lightwave’s equivalent of the graph editor and I’m sure you’ll find your animation curves have a few hiccups in them.
As far as elbows, are they aiming towards a ctrl? Or are you using a twist attribute? In other words, how are you controlling their direction?

MotionBuilder is great, but you’ll end up with the same problems if your workflow is… distorted. Using the graph editor will probably be your best bet.
Why the hell did the moderators put my my post in the LW forum… I wanted to know about third party softwares!
I already have a thread going on on the Newtek forum about how to do this in LW. Im going to try in LW yes… True also that my workflow in flawed and my knowledge of CA limited.
I just finished modeling my model and will start animating soon.
