Very nicely executed jimiyo. Her look arrests your attention. Nice shading and excellent skin rendering.
One crit is her right iris. I think it is a touch too high and a very small touch too far to the right. Placement is always very difficult because if you overdo it she will look crosseyed.

Great job. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Truly amazing work!
Only one thing. the right eye seems larger than than the left.
Really like the lighting and the skin texture. looks much like a photo.
Any reference used?
Care to explain your technique? I would really like to be able to paint like that.
Liv Tyler?

Really nice, but her right eye looks a little to big, I dont know if its me. Other than that, nice skin tones

jimiyo… this is absolutely beautiful! congratulations

my only crit would be that the bottom lip…left hand side as we look at it (so her right) the bottom line of which appears to stay fat for a bit too long… and should curve in earlier.

beautiful work though…fantastic lighting and skin.

thanks for your comments on my Tom Morello by the way

Hey Hard, I thought the top lips was at fault :stuck_out_tongue: Mind you the angle he’s chosen isnt an easy angle to tackle!

wow,

i love it. at forst glance i thought it was picture. this is an awsome rendering.

how long did this take you? keep it up man, this is awsome:thumbsup: :applause: :buttrock:

OMG! This is terriffic. Can’t focus on iris size or lip angles because the overall quality is so great and the attitude is so strong. Reminds me of the girlfriend in film “High Fidelity” that John Cusack loses and tries to reunite with. She has the same, “I’ll be over here doing my thing until you get your act together” look. That you can capture that and make it so photoreal is. . . unreal.

crap. i had replied to everyone line by line but then i lost it. pretty much, thanks everyone! im sorry the individual repsonses got deleted.

  1. pencils, magic rub, tissue paper, blending sticks, stick eraser

sketch loosely, then scan in, overlay over the original photo, set sketch layer to multiply, retrieve sketch, erase, readjust while using image on monitor as guide. do over and over until characteristics are laid out accurately.

  1. burn and dodge and airbrush areas i was too scared to lay down dark with pencil or too clumsy to leave white.

  2. paintover sketch using a couple brushes and many layers (copy, paste, adjust, merge down, over and over, step by step)

brushes

standard airbrush. usually 10-30% unless 60-80% is needed.

http://www.jimiyo.com/downloads/SarsaHairBrushes.abr (found these browsin the internet one day.) they are fantastic for hair, but even better for freckles, skin imperfections.

standard Adobe Natural Brushes 2 - size 118.
